ABOUT
Poushali Bhadury is an Assistant Professor of Children’s Literature at the Department of English, Middle Tennessee State University. She recently graduated with a PhD from the Department of English, University of Florida (UF). Her current book project, The Home and the World in (Post)Colonial Print Culture: Deb Sahitya Kutir and Bengali Children’s Publishing (1940-1975) investigates nationalism and global consciousness in Indian children’s publishing, focusing on the Kolkata publishing house Deb Sahitya Kutir’s literary output during the 1940s-70s.
Poushali was the first Digital Humanities and Publishing Intern at the UF Smathers Library, engaging in collaborative research and DH community practices, co-convening the UF Digital Humanities Working Group, and working for Library Press@UF. Her research and teaching interests are Comparative Children’s Literature, Postcolonial Literature (esp. South Asian), Media Studies, Book History, and Digital Humanities. My primary areas of research are International Children’s and Young Adult Literature, Postcolonial Literature, South Asian Book History and Digital Humanities. My work centers on exploring the relationship between texts/media, readers and authorship in transnational and world literary contexts.
